A checklist for Saturday racing.

A busy racing programme gives you more races to compare, not a reason to make more bets. Use the same evidence checks for each race.

Compare the race, not just the last placing

Start with distance, class, field size and surface conditions. A recent placing in weaker company may be less informative than a competitive run against stronger opposition. A change in distance can change which previous runs are relevant. Separate what the form actually records from an assumption about improvement.

Recheck track and field changes

Weather, track ratings and scratchings can change between an early assessment and the scheduled start. Recheck the official race details before relying on an earlier view. If a scratching changes the expected pace, the initial assessment may no longer apply; do not assume the remaining horses benefit equally.

Consider the likely race shape

Look at where a horse is likely to settle and how that depends on the barrier, the other runners and the early pace. A wide barrier is not automatically a negative, and a favourable draw does not guarantee a trouble-free run. State the uncertainty rather than treating a projected map as a fact.

Keep price separate from confidence

A plausible winner is not necessarily attractive at any price. Odds can change after analysis is published. A price move alone does not establish that the analysis is correct, and a larger return always needs to be weighed against the chance of losing.

Use the published reasoning and record

Read the current Free Best Pick and its available reasoning, not just the horse name. Check its displayed date and race details; this guide is evergreen and is not a list of this Saturday's selections. Review the public results, including losses, and do not infer future performance from a short run of winners.

Set a limit before the programme starts

A full Saturday card is not an obligation to participate in every race. Decide your limits beforehand, do not chase losses and skip races when the evidence is unclear. Gambling can cause harm; the support details below are available whether or not you use this service.
